Gerald Lynn Haynes

October 9, 1945 ~ April 6, 2024 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

Gerald (Gary) Lynn Haynes was born at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California, on October 9, 1945, and passed away at his home in Boise, Idaho, on April 5, 2024. Gary was the firstborn child of then Marine Gunnery Sergent William Webster Haynes and Marie Ila Weaver Haynes. After Bill’s discharge from the Marines, the young family moved back to Boise, Idaho, where Gary was joined by two younger siblings, Pam and Dan. After graduating from Borah High School in 1963, Gary followed his father into the logging industry and was a logging truck driver for many years.

In 1970, Gary met the love of his life, Lois Gregory Prock, and they married on December 8, 1971. In doing so, Gary became a stepfather to Lois’ three young children, Bonita, Joseph and Troy Prock. One year later, in November of 1972, Gary and Lois were blessed with a daughter, Shelly Lynn Haynes (Hendrikse). Tragically, Lois died at a young age on September 3, 1986.

Gary enlisted in the Air National Guard in 1965 and was honorably discharged in 1972.

During his logging years, Gary worked in several locations in Idaho and Oregon. After the logging industry faded, Gary bought his own truck, a trailer toter, and became a long haul driver, hauling trailers as long as 80 feet all over the United States, until he retired from driving at age 60.

Gary had a quirky sense of humor and a deep sense of commitment to friends and family. He lived quietly in retirement, enjoying going for drives and visiting with old friends and family. Gary is survived by his daughter, Shelly Hendrikse (Dave) of Kuna, sister Pam Haynes (Meridian), brother Dan Haynes (Weiser), granddaughter Brandi Biss (Kuna), grandson Jake Biss (Boise), nephews Jesse Haynes (Utah), Joshua Haynes (Nevada), and niece Jennifer Hensley (Utah).

Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, and his parents Bill and Marie Haynes.

Gary was laid to rest at Dry Creek Cemetery on Friday, April 19, 2024, not far from his beloved wife, Lois, in a private internment. Those wishing to remember Gary may make a donation to the charity of their choice.
